So, a few weeks ago I was introduced to BeautyCounter’s cosmetics line, and I instantly fell in love. I fell in love with the Company and their Mission, which is to get safer products into the hands of everyone, and once I tried their products it was hook, line, and sinker.
Did you know that BeautyCounter is so much more than cosmetics? They offer Hair Care, Sun Protection, Body Washes, and even have Shave Cream. After my encounter with their cosmetics line I wanted to know more. Knowing the U.S. only bans 11 ingredients in their cosmetics and BeautyCounter bans 1500, I knew my bathroom was full of havoc wreaking chemicals and that just didn’t settle well. My first thought? My kids. What am I putting on my kids’ bodies? I always buy organic, but how “organic” is it really? Well, guess what?! Some of the products I so carefully picked out for my kids to protect them ranked 3 & 4’s on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, 1 being the best. These products, labeled organic, still rank higher on the “safe” spectrum. BeautyCounter products always rank a 1, occasionally a 2. BeautyCounter’s Sunscreen even ranks a 1, which other “safe” companies can’t honestly say. I’ll let you figure that one out. If my “safer” choices were ranking 3’s & 4’s I didn’t even want to know what my own personal body wash ranked, BUT because not knowing something kills me slowly, I looked. It ranked a 6. It shows concern for being a risk of allergens, developmental problems, and cancer. Guess what went in the trash immediately.
I have never questioned the quality of my health more than I have within the last few weeks of learning about BeautyCounter. What am I putting on my skin that essentially goes INTO my skin?! More importantly, what am I putting into my babies? I have never relied on a list so much as I now rely on BeautyCounter’s Never List. This is a list of chemicals you will NEVER find in BeautyCounter products. A list that contains harmful ingredients found in things we use everyday. It’s no wonder America is so sick.
I recently had the chance to try BeautyCounter’s Kids Line, and it is another product that has exceeded my expectations. Not only does it work great for what I expect in Body Care for my children, but the peace of mind knowing it is completely safe is priceless. As a Mother, you always want to protect your babies from everything, who knew that would include protecting them from kid friendly personal care products sitting on the shelves of your grocery store.
I used the BeautyCounter Kids Nice Do Shampoo, Not a Knot Conditioner, and Super Duper Clean Body Wash. While the smell wont blow you out of the water, it does have a very subtle, fresh scent. A little word to the wise, the super fun smelling washes are usually the ones with the most chemicals. The Shampoo and Body Wash both lather really well too, which is one of my deal breakers. No lather, no thank you. I hate getting a body wash that just doesn’t lather, what exactly is it “washing” then?
My favorite product was the Not a Knot Conditioner. My daughter has crazy curly toddler hair that basically has her looking like frizz ball in .2 seconds and holds knots like nobody’s business.
I mean, see what I’m working with here?
The Not a Knot Conditioner detangles amazingly. Our after bath brushing sessions have been tear free since using it, and it also keeps her curls in tact as her hair dries.
I also had the chance to use the Baby Gentle All Over wash for my almost 5 Month Old and I loved it. The scent is very minimal, but it lathers amazing, and of course, you can’t beat safe. Rowan is my little allergen baby. He’s dairy intolerant, and the slightest thing often makes him break out, so I’m extra careful with the things I introduce to him. BeautyCounter’s Gentle Baby Wash was just that, gentle. I follow up his baths with the Soothing Baby Oil and not only is he clean and soft, but I can feel confident that the ingredients in these products won’t irritate his little body.
I’m so thankful to BeautyCounter for opening my eyes. I never thought twice about the things I was putting on my skin or my family’s skin. I’ve already had to completely overhaul my diet due to my son’s intolerance, the next step is to overhaul the things I’m putting on my skin. We only get one body, the least I could do is take care of it properly. I challenge you to take a look at the things you are putting on your skin that are going INTO your body. I think you’ll be surprised.
I’m hosting a BeautyCounter Social with my sweet friend, Amy. BeautyCounter’s Mission is what brought her to the company as she searched and searched for the safest products for her during pregnancy and to use on her children daily. Together, our goal is to share BeautyCounter’s goodness with you!
You can join my social here.
Amy is sweet enough to offer $5 off any BeautyCounter purchases of $50 or more made through this social, and every purchase of $125 or more will receive a free Charcoal Cleansing Bar. And FYI, the $5 discount will be reimbursed, it will not show up in your cart.
The best part is that EVERY purchase that is made through this social will be entered into a raffle to win BeautyCounter’s Rejuvenating Eye Cream (a $58 value). This is BeautyCounter’s Best Seller and with a promise to reduce puffiness and diminish fine lines and dark circles I can see why! The raffle will run through December 11th. Don’t miss your chance to win, and don’t miss your chance to experience these amazing products!
I was provided these products for an honest review, as always at Jen & Juiceboxes, all opinions are my own.
