Before I had kids I would always hear about the terrible twos. It was often talked about and almost made you fear that second birthday rolling around. Two’s for us were amazing. My Mother always told me she enjoyed two with me, so I thought I was one of the lucky ones who would just survive Toddlerhood fairly unscathed. Are you laughing yet? Imagine my surprise when my friends would laugh and say, “Just wait! It’s the three-nager stage you have to worry about.” Don’t get me wrong, two’s had their tantrums, but I figured I was nailing this motherhood thing because we navigated those treacherous tantrum waters like a boss. I mean, could three reeeeeeally be that much worse? Y’all. Don’t ever welcomingly question a challenge because the answer is yes, yes it can. We are one month into three, and I’m not quite sure I’ll survive. People keep assuring me I will, so that’s what I keep reminded myself as I cry into my cookies at night.
But alas, we have a three year old and it wouldn’t be a Jen & Juiceboxes blog post unless it showed up late, so here it is.
We finally made it to back home to Florida, although it wasn’t much of a vacation because everything revolved around a certain 3 year old’s party. We party prepped all the days leading up to party day, and had one day left to ourselves after the party before we headed home. Though it was busy, it was so great to see family, friends, and celebrate the little human being who made us parents.
Mykenzi is obsessed with Carousel rides, and any time we are in the mall it’s melt down city until we let her ride it. So, we thought, what better way to celebrate her special day than at the Carousel with unlimited rides? Oooh, do you hear that? That’s that Mom of the Year award is calling my name! Yep. Unlimited rides for the Birthday girl and all her friends. She should be carouseled out for the next year and I’m pretty sure in her eyes I’m the greatest Mother that has ever Mothered. 3rd Birthday Party #nailedit if I do say so myself.
BUT, I cannot take all the Mother of the year credit, because I had some pretty awesome Small Shops who helped me seal the deal.
Of course, every Birthday Girl has to have an amazing Birthday outfit and Hannah with LeoTudes did not let me down. Hannah sent Mykenzi her very own personalized leo and it is absolutely darling. It made her $10 Amazon Pom Pom Skirt look like a rockstar, and if there were awards for Birthday outfits, Mykenzi would most definitely win best dressed. Plus, Hannah offered amazing customer service when I ran into a snag while ordering. I cannot say enough nice things about her, her shop, and her product.
After getting the outfit picked I had to figure out how I was going to tame that mop, because if you’ve ever seen Mykenzi in my stories or FB with her hair not done, then you know taming that mop is a job in itself. Thankfully, Beth from Bow and Anchor Co. swooped in to help. She makes the sweetest Pom Pom bows that complimented Mykenzi’s outfit perfectly and tied the entire outfit together. Now I must get my hands on her Calf hair clips because how stinkin’ adorable are they?! No seriously, click the link and check out how adorable they are.
My other shout out goes to Sarah from My Coastal Cookies. She’s a local girl in our hometown that makes the most delicious cookies and cupcakes. She went above and beyond with her customer service and took my vision for Mykenzi’s party and ran with it. I was so giddy when I picked up Mykenzi’s order because it far exceeded my expectations, and to be honest, that is hard to do because I’m a control freak!
If it weren’t for those three ladies and their small busniesses the party would’ve flopped. So, thank you all for being so kind and helping me make my little lady’s third birthday one to remember.
We very much enjoyed our time with our friends and their kids. It was a good day. Now pray for me because I still have 11 months left of this three-nager stage and I don’t know if I’ll make it.
Here are some extra snaps from the party!
