Beach days are something we live for here on the Florida Panhandle. I mean, there’s a reason we’ve been dubbed the “Emerald Coast.” There’s nothing quite like a day of soaking up the sun, breathing that sweet salt air, and digging your toes in that soft white sand. We finally got to have our first beach day of the year a few weekends ago, and while it’s a little different now that we have kids it is still something we very much look forward to doing.
Before kids, I would load up my iPod, grab the latest issue of Cosmo, and lay out to my heart’s content. With kids, I find myself more worried about how to protect that precious porcelain skin of my daughter. While sunscreen is always a must in the Florida sun, I’m always looking for additional ways to keep Mykenzi from burning. Tents, umbrellas, SPF 98524, you name it, and I probably have tried it. One thing I hadn’t tried was Swim Zip. While I am a super fan of all little lady suits Target has to offer, none of them offer the protection and ease that Swim Zip does and they have super cute prints which gives Target run for their money. At least in this Momma’s opinion. And Boy Moms, don’t feel left out! Swim Zip offers some great prints and suits for boys too!
You might have seen Swim Zip on NBC’s Shark Tank and if you haven’t, you are seriously missing out. Swim Zip offers UPF 50+ swimwear and accessories. Betsy, the owner and creator, was diagnosed with skin cancer at a young age. Through the trial and tribulations of her own battle, she pulled up her boot straps and created a sun friendly line of protective swimwear and accessories for all ages.
Here, the Florida sun is nothing to mess with. When that UV Index hits “Moderate,” you better start reapplying sunscreen and drinking water religiously because that sun means business. Let’s not even get started on the days it hits “Extreme.” Forecasters often try to urge us to stay inside to avoid heat stroke and burning to a crisp. As a Florida native, we pretty well know when and when not to go to the beach, but have the peace of mind that Swim Zip offers my little lady and extra layer of UV 50+ protection puts my heart at ease. I was careless about sun safety when I was younger and thankfully, so far, I’ve managed to come out unscathed, but I want to make sure my daughter (and soon to be son) know the importance of protecting yourself against the harsh rays of the sun. Swim Zip allows me to do that while still keeping them trendy and cute.
Also, if you are a beachy toddler mom like myself, functionality of a swimsuit is almost as important as protection. It never fails, a day at the beach means you are bringing half the sand on that beach home with you. I’m kind of a sand freak in the sense that I try to leave as much at the beach as possible, and while the baby powder trick is a life saver, it doesn’t take care of the clumps that are being stored inside your toddler’s swimwear. I often change Mykenzi out of her wet swimsuit before the ride home so she’s not pinned in her carseat soaking wet. Dragging a suit over her head or down her body results in sand everywhere, no matter how many times you wash off in the water before going to your car. With Swim Zip those days are over. Their easy no-pinch zipper allows me to literally zip her suit right on and off with no fuss and less sand! I use the baby powder trick for the remaining sand and she’s good to go. Less sand, less fuss equals a happy momma and a happy baby.
Thank you Swim Zip for creating a product that is safe, functional, and cute. It will certainly be something I can’t live without for years to come. Also, check out their hats and other accessories to keep you protected from the sun. Mykenzi was being a typical model and refused to wear her hat, but I’ll win that battle next time!
I received this suit courtesy of Swim Zip in exchange for an honest review. As always here at Baking Baby Brown, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
